Mountain Pine Campground

Bringing full Wi-Fi coverage to a 45-acre off-grid campground

The Challenge

Mountain Pine Campground sits at 6,200 feet in the San Bernardino National Forest with zero cellular coverage and no terrestrial internet options. The campground hosts 200+ campers on peak weekends who increasingly expect reliable internet for remote work, navigation, and staying connected. The owner was losing bookings to campgrounds with Wi-Fi.

Our Solution

We deployed a Starlink Business terminal on a custom elevated mount for clear sky visibility, connected to a 6-node outdoor mesh network covering all 45 acres of camping zones, the lodge, and the general store. A captive portal provides guest authentication, and bandwidth management ensures fair usage across all connected devices.

Desert Sun Music Festival

Temporary high-density network for 5,000 attendees in the open desert

The Challenge

Desert Sun is a 3-day music festival held annually in the Mojave Desert. With 5,000 attendees and zero existing infrastructure, the event needed reliable connectivity for point-of-sale terminals, artist communications, security radios over IP, social media (critical for marketing), and emergency services coordination.

Our Solution

We designed a temporary deployment using two Starlink terminals for redundancy, an 8-node mesh network covering the main stage area, vendor row, and camping zones, and a dedicated VLAN for POS terminals and security. The entire system was deployed in 4 hours on the morning of setup day and dismantled in 2 hours after the event.

Sierra Mining Operations

Real-time IoT monitoring and edge computing for a remote mine site

The Challenge

A mining operation in the Sierra Nevada foothills needed real-time monitoring of 80+ IoT sensors (vibration, air quality, water flow, equipment status) across a 120-acre site. The nearest cell tower was 15 miles away with no line of sight. Data needed to be processed locally with alerts sent to the operations center in real-time.

Our Solution

We deployed a Starlink terminal for backhaul, a cell booster array to extend weak cellular signal from a distant tower, 4 edge computing nodes positioned across the site for local data processing, and a mesh network connecting all sensor clusters. Edge nodes run real-time analytics and trigger immediate alerts, with data synced to the cloud every 5 minutes.

We went from driving 45 minutes to check gauges to having real-time dashboards on our phones. The edge computing means we get alerts instantly even when satellite bandwidth is constrained.
